I have been an avid wordsmith since youth, when my parents assaulted me with books and sequestered me as an only child in a rural part of New England where there were no other children for neighbors. My love of literature, philosophy, and writing led me to complete my Undergraduate Degree at St. John’s College in Santa Fe—where the single program of study consisted exclusively of four years of reading source texts, in-class conversation, and writing analytical papers.
While completing my Master’s Degree at Whitworth University between 2016-2019, I was fortunate to land my first professional writing job as a freelance copyeditor for San Francisco-based startup, MentorBox. Mentorbox collaborates with best-selling authors of self-development books to distill the most important takeaways into quick, easily digestible lessons. My task was to edit the associated written collateral, which exposed me to the work of many incredible thought-leaders!
Eventually, Mentorbox transitioned their business model away from producing written assets entirely, and my job freelancing for them came to an end. However, I looked up several of the Mentorbox featured authors on LinkedIn, and quickly found success in pitching my services as a line editor and developmental editor for these authors’ ebooks, articles, and full-length manuscripts.
With this experience under my belt, I again had an opportunity to expand my professional writing repertoire in 2020, when I began freelancing for Spokane-based national advertising agency, Power Marketing. I am now well-versed in creating written content for social media, websites, audio scripts, and PPC ads.
I greatly enjoy working on copywriting and editing assignments; I believe that creating and honing powerful messages is an opportunity for artistry and ingenuity. This work also involves constant expansion of knowledge, from researching and learning new grammatical rules when necessary, to being exposed to the related content in an author’s field of expertise.
If you are in the market for a copywriter or editor, I would be delighted to dialogue about your current needs. My rates are typically charged by the word, but every project/assignment is different! I only accept work when I believe that I am a good fit to help you achieve your desired outcomes. You can reach me directly at tanyasavas@gmail.com to begin the conversation.
