Welcome to The Little Goat Outpost Hosting Goat Hikes + Camping Sites in Tres Piedras, New Mexico

Welcome to The Little Goat Outpost Hosting Goat Hikes + Camping Sites in Tres Piedras, New Mexico

Welcome to The Little Goat Outpost! We are a rural homestead with two miniature goats located in the tiny village of Tres Piedras, New Mexico.

Formerly “The Little Goat House,” our operations began in Spokane, WA, back in 2018. We started as a 420-friendly boutique bungalow rental, providing access to urban goats and hiking!

When the COVID-19 pandemic became a national health emergency, we were fortunate to experience the chaos as a timely redirection for our operations. We decided to follow our instincts back to the high desert in Taos County, New Mexico — downsizing from our 1,500 sq. ft. 1905 home to our current 660 sq. ft. cabin built in 2003.

Our unique urban homestead in Spokane was purchased by a young couple who now keep falcons on the premises. Meanwhile myself, the goat boys, and the Petunia kitty embarked on an epic ~1,500 mile road trip to our new home! (We’ve since added a Petunia doppleganger to the mix, as well as a Rhodesian/Hound rescue dog!).

Located on the outskirts of Taos County with a population of under 400, the village of Tres Piedras (“Three Rocks” in Spanish) offers a much-desired reprieve from the ubiquitous capitalism, globalism, and technology that permeates our urban centers. Sitting on 2 acres in the foothills of the Tusas mountains, and a few steps from the Carson National Forest, “The Little Goat Outpost” is a veritable sanctuary.

We are excited to welcome tent and car camping guests to the property at The Little Goat Outpost via Hipcamp. We are also thrilled to announce the launch of our new converted Skoolie bus rental, “Harvey,” hosted on-site at the Goat Outpost in partnership with Kyrie Morales of “It’s Good to be Outside!” Whether you are staying overnight with us, or would simply like to pass through for a daytime visit, myself and the goats would love to accompany you for an exploration of beautiful Tres Piedras on one of our signature Goat Hikes! For more information, please visit our “Goat Hiking + Goat Snowshoeing” page!

Thanks for stopping by, and we hope to meet you in person soon!

Tanya (Head Goat Wrangler), “John Waters” (brown goat), “David Lynch” (white goat), Petunia (tuxedo kitty), Dulcinea (other tuxedo kitty), + Daisy Dukess (Rhodesian-mix rescue pup)
